In 1995, Marcia Fleischman, the CEO of Wunderwear, Inc., read an article called Dressed to Kill: The Link between Bras and Breast Cancer* in the newspaper. Authors Singer and Grismeier had written a book based on anecdotal research indicating the possibility that the constrictive nature of bras could contribute to breast cancer.
Although sports bras were new on the market at that time (and too tight for her to get over her head and shoulders) Marcia decided to create a non-constrictive bra. This bra would be "breast-friendly" and allow for the fluidity of breasts.
Through her job as a Baptist pastor, Marcia has heard God whisper a Bible verse for her new creation. "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
This new bra would certainly put a wiggle in your walk!
When the QVC 50/50 of 1997 tour came to Kansas, Marcia was chosen as one of the twenty new products to represent the state. 2,800 bras sold in 20 minutes hence Bless My Body Bra.
The Bless My Body Bra became the 5th top seller of the whole tour. Sadly, shortly after the final show Marcia was diagnosed with a fatal disease and could no longer pursue selling on QVC.
In 2003 Marcia received a life-saving double lung transplant and has been going strong ever since. Through her personal experience she found that the Bless My Body Bra was especially comfortable post surgery.
